BABY SNAPPING TURTLES
"Gimme Five."
Photographed in Sleepy Hollow, NY. August 2006. At my place of employment
there is a sunken patio near the basement entrance. After rainstorms we frequently
find baby toads and baby snapping turtles there. Perhaps they are pushed up
and out of a storm drain with rising waters. I pick them up and carry them up
the stairs and put them down on the grass near a pond so that they can find
their way to their new homes.
