PEARL JAM - MAY 20, 2010
MADISON SQUARE GARDEN, NEW YORK, NY

During Even Flow Ed walked to the back of the stage and noticed a sign that said something to the effect of "Thanks for Newark." A young man named James got word out that he wanted Pearl Jam to dedicate Alive to his dad Jack, who had been fighting cancer. The dedication happened at the Newark show.

After Even Flow, Ed announced that Jack wasn't supposed to make it to MSG, but he did, and that he looked great, and the spotlight shone on Jack and James, shown below, and 20,000 people cheered. How cool of Ed and the band to take note of this kind of stuff, and to do something simple that no doubt made these people so happy.
