Second-to-last home game
ABOVE and BELOW: The Right Field Foul Pole.
Seen below is a section of the wood and chicken wire section of the
foul pole, installed in 1978 when
the corner walls were moved inward three feet. The wooden "pole" was
built between the new wall
and where the previous home run marker on the wall was painted. Shea Stadium was
also the only
big league park with orange poles at the time of its demise.
